TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team continues Mid-American Conference play this week as the Rockets welcome Miami to Savage Arena for a pair of matches. Toledo and Miami will meet on Thursday, Oct. 24 and Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:00 p.m. Both matchups will be streamed on ESPN+.
Toledo enters the matchup with an overall record of 13-8 (6-3 MAC) after having won four of their last five matches. The Rockets are just a game behind Central Michigan, Bowling Green and Buffalo, all of whom are tied for first with idential 6-2 league marks.
Miami sits at 7-13 (1-8 MAC) and most recently grabbed a 3-2 win over Kent State on Friday, Oct. 18.
ROCKET NOTES
- Toledo ranks third in the MAC and 34th nationally in total service aces (137) while ranking third in the league in service aces per set (1.73).
- Taylor Alt broke the MAC's all-time kill record in a 3-1 win at Akron on Oct. 17. Alt now has 2,001 career kills, and is the first player in both Toledo and MAC history to crack the 2000-kill mark.
- Alt is second in the league and 45th nationally in total kills (291) and third in the conference in kills per set (3.73).
- Freshman libero Grace Freiberger is third in the MAC and 57th in the country in digs per set (4.54) and fifth in the conference in total digs (322).
- Redshirt freshman middle blocker Sierra Pertzborn is sixth in the league in blocks per set (1.05).
- Sophomore setter Macy Hatkevich is sixth in the conference in assists per set (7.80).
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
- Miami ranks second in the conference and 46th in the nation in aces per set (1.77). The RedHawks are fourth in the league and 44th in the country in total service aces (133).
- Junior middle hitter Gentry Warrick is second in the MAC in both total blocks (97) and blocks per set (1.29). Warrick's 97 total blocks are good for 23rd in the nation while her 1.29 blocks per set rank 38th in the country.
- On offense, sophomore outside hitter Raegan Lantz averaging 2.79 kills per set while junior outside hitter Ellie Hanson lead the team with 23 service aces.
- Redshirt sophomore libero Anna McClure averages 3.77 digs per set to pace the defensive side of the ball.
SERIES STUFF
- Miami leads the all-time series, 43-14.
- Toledo won the lone matchup between the two teams during the 2023 season, 3-0.
UP NEXT
Toledo will head to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on Western Michigan on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2. Both matches are set for 6:00 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.
