TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team tallied a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-12, 25-23) over Buffalo on Saturday evening at Savage Arena.
The win moves the Rockets to 19-9 overall and 10-6 in the Mid-American Conference, fourth in the league standings. This marks the fifth-straight season that UT has won double-figure conference matchups.
Following the match, Toledo honored its four graduating seniors -
Anna Alford,
Iremnur Elmas,
Macy Medors and
Kelsey Smith.
Sophomore
Olivia Heitkamp led the Rockets' offense, tallying 11 kills for her 15th contest this season with double-figure terminations. Redshirt sophomore
Sierra Pertzborn added nine kills on a .429 clip to go along with a team-high six blocks. Redshirt junior
Sophie Catalano and freshman
Jessica Costlow each poured in nine kills throughout the match.

Grace Freiberger totaled 17 digs while the senior setter Smith recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 36 assists and 10 digs.

Key Moments
- Buffalo used a 3-0 run to take an early 8-4 lead in the first set. A block from Anna Alford and Olivia Heitkamp and an ace from Kelsey Smith helped the Rockets cut the lead to two, 9-7, and a termination from Jessica Costlow evened the set, 9-9. The Rockets and Bulls traded points before UT fired off a 7-1 run to take a 21-13 lead. A kill from Sophie Catalano put the Rockets at set point and Costlow recorded a kill for the set win.
- A 7-0 run with Avery Adamski behind the service line gave UT a 9-1 lead in the second set. The Rockets fired off four straight blocks to extend their advantage to 12, 14-2, and kept their large lead thanks to kills from Alford and Heitkamp, 20-5. The Bulls never got closer than 11, as UT grabbed the set victory with a kill from Catalano.
- The Rockets and Bulls traded points to begin the third frame but UT took a slight lead with a solo block from Costlow, 13-10. Heitkamp tallied her ninth kill of the night to keep Toledo ahead, 20-17. The Bulls used a 3-0 run to get within one, 23-22, before a kill from Costlow put the Rockets at match point, 24-22. Heitkamp hammered a termination home to secure the match win.
