Women's Soccer Looks to Clinch MAC Tournament Berth at Kent State, Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team looks to clinch a berth in the Mid-American Conference Tournament when it heads on the road to Kent State on Thursday, Oct. 19 and Ohio on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Rockets need one win to lock up a spot in their 11th conference tournament in the last 13 seasons.

The Rockets (7-6-3, 4-2-2 MAC) scored four goals for their second-straight match to secure a 4-2 win over Akron last Friday before dropping a closely contested 1-0 match to Buffalo on Sunday. UT currently sits in fifth place in the conference standings. The top four teams will host a first-round conference tournament matchup.

Freshman Sophia Lewis netted a pair of goals, the first two of her collegiate career, in the Rockets' win over Akron. On the season, junior Hannah Scafaria tops the team and is third in the MAC with eight goals.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Madison Perrin ranks third in the conference with 80 saves and five shutouts on the campaign.

Kent State (11-4-1, 7-1-0 MAC) lost its lone conference match to Ball State on Oct. 1 but has rattled off four conference victories in the last two weeks. The reigning MAC Tournament champions hold the league's top spot with 21 points entering the weekend.

Vital Kats leads the Golden Flashes' offense with a team-high four goals to go along with three assists. Isabelle Mihail and Cameron Shedenhelm have added to the scoring with three goals each.

Ohio (7-8-1, 4-3-1 MAC) sits directly in the middle of the conference with three MAC matches to play. The Bobcats won two of their last three matches against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan, but fell victim to Ball State in their last contest.

Allie Curry and Hannah Jaggers lead Ohio with six goals and five goals, respectively.

Toledo has dropped four of its last five meetings with Kent State, but has flipped the script on Ohio, winning 13 of 15 meetings since 2005.

The women's soccer team ends the regular season with the I-75 rivalry against Bowling Green on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Scott Park.
