TOLEDO, Ohio –
Emma Rhoades' 14th-minute goal stood as the winner as the Toledo women's soccer team claimed its first win in Mid-American Conference play in a 1-0 triumph over UMass at Paul Hotmer field on Sunday.
The Rockets (4-5-6, 1-4-4 MAC) got on the board first for the first time since Sept. 18, and the defense held the lead for the final 76 minutes, fending off 11 corner kicks for the Minutewomen (5-6-4, 3-4-2). The Rockets earned their fourth win at home this season and fourth shutout.
Toledo earned the shots and shots on goal advantages, 10-7 and 5-2, respectively. UMass led in corners, 11-2 including seven trips to the corner flag in the first half.
