TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team welcomes Akron and Buffalo to Scott Park this weekend for a pair of Mid-American Conference matches. The Rockets host Akron on Friday, Oct. 13 at 4:05 p.m. and battle Buffalo on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:05 p.m.
The Rockets (6-5-3, 3-1-2 MAC) currently sit in fourth place in the conference with five matches to play.Â
Junior forward
Hannah Scafaria leads the team and is second in the conference with eight goals, seven of which have come in the last seven matches. Redshirt freshman
Madison Perrin leads the conference with 73 saves in goal.
Rockets' head coach
TJ Buchholz enters the weekend with 198 career wins and 99 wins as a women's soccer head coach. Buchholz will reach two milestones with a perfect weekend in the Glass City.
Akron (1-11-2, 0-5-1 MAC) is still looking for its first conference win of the season and earned its lone point in a 1-1 draw with Central Michigan. The Zips are on a 12-match winless streak dating back to Aug. 20.
Ashley Amato has scored three of UA's nine goals on the season to lead the team.
Buffalo (5-6-2, 3-2-1 MAC) dropped its first three matches of the season but has bounced back with strong MAC play halfway through the conference schedule.Â
The Bulls are led by Carissima Cutrona who ranks fourth in the conference with six goals. UB netminder Laura Douglas comes in just behind Perrin with 71 saves on the campaign.
Toledo owns a 12-2-2 all-time record over Akron despite a loss and a tie in the last two meetings. Buffalo snapped an eight-match winning steak by the Rockets in 2013 and has rattled off five victories in a row in the series. UT still leads the all-time series 12-10-1.
The Rockets take their final road trips of the season to Kent State on Thursday, Oct. 19 and to Ohio on Sunday, Oct. 22.Â
