Toledo Wraps Up Regular Season at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI – Toledo (8-11-0, 4-6-0 MAC) will finish its regular season with a contest at Central Michigan (6-9-2, 5-4-1 MAC) on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 3:00 p.m. at the CMU Soccer Facility.

The Rockets took down Ohio and Kent State last weekend to close out the home portion of the regular season. UT scored five goals in the two victories, which was the Midnight Blue & Gold's highest total of the year. The backline also stayed in top form and only allowed one goal.

Sophomore Isa Echeverri netted three markers during those fixtures, including the match-winning penalty kick in overtime against the Golden Flashes.  The Colombian's performance earned her first career Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

"Isa's continually getting better and she really stepped up on a very important weekend for us," First-year head coach TJ Buchholz said.

Buchholz knows the team is coming together at the right time.

"Last weekend was special and we're looking to build on that as we prepare for CMU," Buchholz said.

UT heads into the final contest holding the No. 7 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament.  The top-eight teams in the conference by points, regardless of division, make the tournament.  A conference win earns a team three points, while a draw earns one.  Toledo currently has 12 points, while Ohio and Akron are tied in eighth place with nine.  The Rockets hold the tiebreaker over the Bobcats, and one point on Thursday will guarantee UT the No. 7 seed.

"This is a time for us to stay focused and continue moving forward," Buchholz said.  "Thursday is an important game for us, and getting into the conference tournament was one of our goals for this year."
Toledo holds an all-time record of 5-7-7 against Central Michigan, with its last win coming on Oct. 22, 2010 at Scott Park.

The Rockets will begin the MAC Tournament at either Ball State or Western Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1:00 p.m.
