TOLEDO, OH - Toledo ran into a red-hot Miami squad this afternoon at Savage Hall as the Rockets (3-18, 0-10 MAC) suffered a 3-0 (30-26, 30-19, 30-25) setback to the RedHawks (12-7, 9-1 MAC).
UT limited Miami to a .159 hitting percentage in the first game but ended up on the short end of a 30-26 decision. The Rockets held an 18-15 lead until the RedHawks went on an 11-3 run to take a five-point cushion. Toledo rallied to within a point at 27-26 but couldn't come any closer.
Miami took a 7-0 advantage in the second game and never looked back as it posted a .519 attack percentage. In the third game, the RedHawks again took an early 5-1 lead and extended it to 16-8 before the Rockets mounted a comeback. UT closed to within a point on two different occasions but ended up losing by a 30-25 margin.
Junior OH Shannon Strachan led the Rockets offensively with a match-high 12 kills, while junior libero Lori Ruth paced UT's defense with 15 digs.
Megan Griffin and Michele Metzler paced the RedHawk attack with 10 kills apiece, while junior libero Melissa Zenz posted a match-high 16 digs.
Toledo returns to action next weekend with its final two home matches of the 2007 campaign. The Rockets will host Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. and Central Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m.
