Box Score

Cleveland, OH - Toledo (8-14) let several chances for victory slip away tonight in its 3-0 (31-29, 30-26, 30-27) setback to Cleveland State (15-10) at Woodling Gymnasium. The Rockets had good opportunities to win each game but couldn't come up with key points when needed.

Junior Rachel Mohler and sophomore Kelsey Culver led four Rockets in double figures with 12.5 points apiece and were followed by freshman Kate Bean (12 pts.) and sophomore Corrie Magnus (10 pts.). Mohler notched a team-high 12 kills, while Bean posted a double-double with 11 kills and a team-high 12 digs.

Magnus paced the Rockets' defensive effort at the net with four total blocks, while Culver led UT with a .357 attack percentage and four aces.

"I thought we were outplayed both offensively and defensively tonight and that was very disappointing," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "We have two important matches coming this weekend, and we need to pass and serve better and stay in system more offensively if we're going to be successful."

In the first game, the Rockets held a 26-23 lead before CSU rallied with four straight points to take a one-point advantage. UT then battled back for a 29-28 lead on a Bean kill, but the Vikings closed out the game with three straight points.

The second game saw Toledo jump out to an 11-7 advantage but Cleveland State tallied seven straight points to lead 14-11. The Rockets fought right back though to take a 16-14 lead but a 6-1 run gave the Vikings the lead for good.

The third game saw UT ahead 20-18 but the Vikings rallied with an 8-3 run to take control and win the match.

Toledo returns to action on Friday, Oct. 24 with a Mid-American Conference contest at Akron scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
