Final Stats

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (2-0) won its second straight match with a 3-1 (28-30, 30-18, 30-16, 30-23) victory over Cleveland State (0-2) this afternoon in the 2001 Clarion Hotel Westgate Rocket Volleyball Classic at Savage Hall. Western Kentucky (2-0) defeated Chicago State (0-2) in the afternoon's second match by a 3-0 (30-17, 30-14, 30-26) margin. The Rockets and Lady Toppers will square off in the final match of the tournament at 7:00 p.m. to determine the tournament champion.

Senior middle blocker Lindsey Kretzmann paced a balanced Rocket attack with 17 kills. Four others Toledo players reached double figures in kills - juniors Jessica Buck (14 kills), Bitsy Mayhle (14 kills), Heidi Neumeister (12 kills) and Becky Radomski (11 kills). Mayhle led the Rockets in attack percentage (.650) and digs (13), while Buck notched a career-high six of UT's 16 service aces.

"Our level of play really dropped off after a solid start in the first game," Head Coach Kent Miller said. "But we focused more and quit making unforced errors. Our serving and passing also improved and we showed more diversity in our offense."

Sophomore setter Carrie McCaw notched a career-high 57 assists to help the Rockets register a .300 attack percentage.

"We had a very balanced attack and part of the reason for that is Carrie is continuing to show a lot of creativity," Miller said. "She has running our offense well."
