Toledo scores eight runs in each of the first and sixth innings
Â
The Rockets (18-23) made an early statement, erupting for eight runs in the first inning, including seven before an out was recorded. Toledo scored three more times in the third and once each in the fourth and fifth, before another explosion created an eight-run sixth inning to surpass 20 on the board. Toledo has scored 51 runs over its last three games and reached 20 runs for the fourth time this season.
Â
The Rockets' offense displayed an extremely balanced attack, with a dozen players collecting hits on the evening. Eleven players tallied RBIs, including five players with multi-RBI outings. Twelve players scored runs, including six players with multiple runs. Freshman Liam Arsich topped UT with four RBIs, with three more coming from junior Cole Cahill and graduate student Jackson Hiatt. Juniors Cade Baker, Charlie Scholvin and Alex McCranie each scored three runs.
Â
Junior John Hojnowski (1-2) started and tossed four shutout innings for his first win of the season. Hojnowski allowed just three hits and struck out three batters. Freshman Sam Rufenacht and sophomore Matt Hubbard combined to throw the final three innings without a baserunner allowed. Both pitchers struck out two Penguins.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
"We bounced back today and played a complete game. We got great pitching and everyone contributed on offense. We needed that to feel good heading into another big MAC weekend versus the fellas Down South."
