A: A new University of Toledo–led youth sports platform offering high‑quality, values-based leagues, camps, and clinics and more for kids across Northwest Ohio.
A: Programming launches this spring with boys & girls flag football.
Q: Why is the University of Toledo launching RYSL?
A: Youth sports builds confidence, leadership, and belonging. RYSL allows the University to activate its facilities, connect with families, and support youth development across Northwest Ohio in a structured, values-based way.
Q: Is RYSL replacing existing youth leagues?
A: No. RYSL is building in partnership with existing community leaders. We are starting with flag football this spring and will grow thoughtfully based on demand, feedback, and operational readiness.
Q: What is the long-term vision for RYSL?
A: RYSL is being built as a long-term youth sports platform hosted by the University of Toledo. Flag football is Phase I. Future expansion will be intentional and community-driven, focusing on quality, safety, and access over rapid scale.
Q: How does RYSL ensure safety and quality?
A: All programming will operate under strict safety standards, structured league management, and safety-first policies. Coaching and staffing will meet established youth sports guidelines.
Q: Will RYSL remain accessible to families?
A: Yes. RYSL is committed to competitive pricing and responsible growth. As the league expands, we will continue to evaluate scholarship and sponsorship opportunities to support access for families across our region.
Q: What sports will be offered?
A: Rocket Youth Sports Leagues will start with flag football and expand to additional sports in the future.
A: Yes! RYSL connects participants with Rocket student-athletes for mentorship and skill development.
A: Every participant gets a FREE Rocket Kids Club membership (a $50 value!) including free admission to Rocket home games, game day perks & exclusive events.
A: Activities will be held primarily at University of Toledo athletic facilities and additional regional locations as programs grow.
