Rockets Break Out Against Miami in 20-4 Rout
4/19/2026 4:45:00 PM | Baseball
Toledo totals four home runs in third game of at least 20 runs this season
Â
The Rockets (17-22, 13-8 MAC) scored three times in the first inning before exploding for nine runs in the second. Toledo then supplied another offensive explosion with seven runs in the fourth to make 20 runs for the third time this season. Toledo also scored 21 runs against Northern Illinois (March 13) and 23 against Eastern Michigan (April 3). Toledo avoided the sweep and will stay within two games of first place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
Â
Redshirt junior Troy Sudbrook hit two home runs of over 400 feet in a 3-for-4 day with four RBIs and four runs scored. He had multi-hit outings in all three games this week. Freshman Preston Zumwalt hit 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, including an inside-the-park home run, the first homer of his career. Freshman Liam Arsich hit a three-run home run in a 2-for-3 day with four RBIs. All told, seven players scored multiple runs, six had multiple RBIs and four had multiple hits.
Â
On the mound, redshirt freshman Michael Fliss (1-1) turned in a dominant effort in 5.0 innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters, including the first five hitters he faced. Fliss became the second Toledo pitcher with 10 strikeouts in a game this season (Nathan Leininger at Central Michigan, March 20). Redshirt freshman Nate Langbehn pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game with five more strikeouts.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
"That's a nice win today. It was good to see us get off the mat and fight back. Michael Fliss was outstanding on the mound and gave us a great start. The offense came alive, which is exactly what we challenged them to do. We need to keep this momentum heading into a big week with two midweek games and our rival BG this coming weekend."
