Rockets Close Regular Season at Home Against Bowling Green, Central Michigan

Toledo can clinch MAC Tournament berth on Thursday

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team finishes up the regular season with a midweek matchup against Bowling Green before closing out the Mid-American Conference schedule against Central Michigan on Thursday-Saturday at Scott Park. Saturday's home finale will be Senior Day, as the program will honor 12 seniors prior to the game.
 
Tuesday's matchup will begin at 3:00 p.m. while the series against Central Michigan will have game times of 3:00, 3:00 and 1:00. All games will air on BCSN and be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Toledo (25-27, 14-13 MAC) took a lopsided 12-1 victory against Youngstown State to start the week before taking the final two games against Northern Illinois to claim its fourth-straight MAC series. The Rockets are 7-2 in their last nine games overall and 9-3 in their last 12 MAC games. Toledo is one win from clinching a spot in next week's MAC Tournament.

The Opponents
  • Bowling Green (31-19) defeated Butler, but was swept over the weekend by Notre Dame. The matchup against Bowling Green will not count towards the conference standings.
  • Central Michigan (19-32, 11-16 MAC) took 2-of-3 games from Eastern Michigan over the weekend to pull into a three-way tie with EMU and Central Michigan for the sixth and final MAC Tournament position. Eastern Michigan hosts Kent State while Western Michigan hosts Ohio this weekend.
Leading Off Rocket Hitting Notes
  • Toledo averaged 6.8 runs across last week's games and have scored at least eight runs in six of its last nine games.
  • Charlie Scholvin hit .463 last week, with two multi-hit games and had an on-base percentage of .631. He was hit by a pitch five times, bringing his total up to 30 for the season.
  • Scholvin is second in Division I in hit by pitches and is seventh in the MAC with a .479 on-base percentage.
  • Luke Leto is coming off of an 8-for-14 series against Northern Illinois. He has six multi-hit outings in his last 13 games and leads the team with 13 stolen bases
  • Caden Konczak and Cole Cahill each lead the team with 14 multi-hit games heading into the week.
On the Mound and In the Field
  • The Rockets lead the MAC with a 5.15 team ERA and an opponent batting average of .263
  • The Rockets allowed just 10 runs (2.5/game) across the four games last week.
  • Jackson Bergman pitched his second-straight start of 7.0 innings on Saturday, allowing just two runs on three hits. He is sixth in the league in ERA (4.47), eighth in the league in opponent batting average (.247) and 17th in innings pitched (58.1) this season.
  • Jacob Tabor pitched six shutout innings on Friday. He is third in the league with a 3.52 ERA, ninth with a .250 opponent average and has allowed just five doubles, the fewest in the league.
  • The Rockets have allowed three or fewer runs 18 times this season, including 12 times in conference play.
