TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball program has added Dillon Emerson to its staff as the Director of Player Development, Head Coach
Rob Reinstetle announced on Thursday.
Â
In his volunteer role, Emerson will support the athletic, academic and personal growth of each player, and will assist the coaching staff in enhancing player performance, building team culture and overall program success.
Â
"I am very happy to announce Dillon Emerson as the newest member of our staff," said Reinstetle. "Some days you are just lucky to have an amazing individual fall into your lap. Coach Emerson reached out to me about his love of baseball and wanting to get into coaching with his military days coming to an end. With his diverse background in the military and his real-world experience, it was a no-brainer for me to hire him. He is a tireless worker, loyal and eager to jump in and help in any way he can. I know that everyone in the program will benefit from his life experiences and all he has to share."
Â
Emerson will begin his coaching career at Toledo after spending over a decade in the U.S. Army. He has been stationed and done several tours around the world. Most recently, he was a recruiter in the Bowling Green, Ohio field office for four years.
Â
Before enlisting in the Army, Emerson was an infielder for NCAA Division III Thomas College in Maine. In 2013, he batted .306, totaling 33 hits, 28 RBIs and 17 runs in 34 games.
Â
Emerson is a native of Concord, N.H. and won a baseball state title at Concord High School in his senior year.
Â
"I am excited to be working with our student-athletes, developing leaders on and off the baseball diamond," said Emerson.
