Rockets Host Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Travel North for Weekend Series at Eastern Michigan

Toledo enters weekend 1.5 games back of MAC Tournament position

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will host Purdue Fort Wayne in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, April 9, and then hit the road to face Eastern Michigan for a Mid-American Conference weekend series on April 11-13. First pitch against the Mastodons will be at 1:00 p.m., with the Eastern Michigan games set for noon on Friday, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Oestrike Stadium.
 
Toledo (10-20, 5-10 MAC) dropped their road game at Youngstown State on Tuesday and fell in 2-of-3 games at Scott Park against Akron. In Friday's game, Jacob Tabor pitched 3.2 scoreless relief innings, only allowing one hit, but the Rockets fell 5-2. In the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, Jackson Bergman pitched 5.2 scoreless innings on five hits, while freshman Braden Curry followed with 3.1 scoreless relief innings on one hit and to secure the save in a 1-0 win. In the rubber match, Toledo put up another strong pitching effort but was defeated, 1-0 Brady Sasse pitched 5.0 scoreless innings, only allowing three hits and striking out four. Ryan Kennedy allowed no runs or hits and struck out two in relief. Leading the offense last week was Kaleb Herbert, hitting 4-for-9, scoring one run, and drawing two walks.
 
Purdue Fort Wayne (6-23, 5-6 Horizon) lost to Central Michigan in a midweek contest before dropping a doubleheader against Milwaukee over the weekend. Toledo played at Purdue Fort Wayne earlier in the season on March 25, winning 12-5.

Eastern Michigan (13-15, 8-7 MAC) lost a midweek game against Michigan and dropped all three contests against Ball State last weekend. The Rockets swept the series last year at Scott Park, with victories of 10-9 (10 inn.), 4-3 and 11-1 (7 inn.)
