GROVE CITY, Ohio – Fifth-year senior
Amelia Lee finished in fifth place and earned a spot on the all-tournament team to lead Toledo to a second-place finish on Tuesday at the Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships. Â
The Rockets began the day two strokes behind 25-time defending champion Kent State but finished 11 shots behind the Golden Flashes at the par-72, 6,201-yard Pinnacle Golf Club. The second-place showing was UT's sixth in program history and second under Head Coach
Jenny Coluccio.
"We were right there and fighting each hole," Coluccio said. "I'm incredibly proud of our team's grace under pressure today. The conditions and course setup were very challenging and once again everyone rose to the challenge. Our year has been like putting together a puzzle one piece at a time, building on each event and lesson learned. This group is special, and our seniors will be missed dearly."
Lee earned a spot on the MAC All-Tournament Team after finishing at 10-over par 226, just four shots behind KSU's co-medalists Hester Sicking (76-74-72) and Leon Takagi (71-74-77). The Golden Flashes Veronika Kedronova placed third at eight-over par, while Ball State's Sarah Gallagher was fourth at nine-over.
Senior
Angel Hii also finished in the Top 10 after carding UT's best round of the day with a three-over par 75 to tie for eighth place with at 230. That was two spots higher than her previous best conference finish of 10th place as a freshman.
Junior
Yedam Lee finished just out of the Top 10, placing 11
th at 231 for her best showing in the MAC Tournament.Â
