Jenny Coluccio

Jenny Coluccio is entering her seventh year as the women’s golf coach at the University of Toledo. Coluccio (col-LOOCH-ee-O) is the third head coach in program history and came to Toledo in 2018 after serving as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois women’s golf program for five years.

Last year, Coluccio guided Toledo to a second-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships, the sixth time in program history it has finished as the runner-up behind perennial power Kent State. The Rockets also tied the school record for lowest 36-hole score ever at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, where senior Macy Hanus shot a school-record two-under par 142. In addition, junior Kyleigh Dull also captured the individual title at the Rocket Classic to lead UT to the team title.

The 2022-23 season saw Coluccio and the Rockets etch numerous entries into the program’s record book as well as register improvement throughout the roster. Highlighting the season for Toledo was a school-record 54-hole three-over par 867 at the Falcon Florida Classic on Feb. 6-7.  During that tournament, the Rockets also tied for the program's fourth-best round ever with a two-under par 286 in the first round and their ninth-best ever with a one-over par 289 in the third round.

Senior Amelia Lee tied a school record by winning Penn State’s Nittany Lion Invitational (Sept. 17-18) and Bowling Green’s Dolores Black Falcon Invitational (April 6-7), the first tournament victories of her collegiate career. Lee registered a career-low seven-under par 209 to win the PSU event, which is the second-best 54-hole total in program history.

Toledo finished in the Top 10 of every tournament it competed and notched a Top Five showing in seven of 11 events. In addition, the Rockets’ 304.4 stroke average ranked sixth in school history and was over eight strokes better than its 2021-22 mark.

In Coluccio's first year at Toledo, she guided the Rockets to a success-filled 2018-19 season. Toledo posted a 299.01 season stroke average, finishing just shy of the 2015-16 squad’s school-record mark of 298.3. The Rockets also registered a second-place finish in the Mid-American Conference Championships for the fifth time in the last seven years. In addition, all six members of the team set or tied their personal-best 18-hole and 54-hole tournament scores, with three producing a personal-best season scoring average.

Toledo also carded five of the seven best team rounds in school history and became the first team to shoot par or lower on five occasions. That feat was highlighted by a pair of three-under 285s that matched the second-best team round in school history. The Rockets notched three of the top 54-hole totals in program annals as well, including an 11-over par 875 at the MAC Championship that ranks third.

Seniors Pinyada Kuvanun and Pimchanok Kawil set the pace for the Rockets in the individual record book. Kuvanun finished her collegiate career with a school-record 73.7 stroke average, thanks to putting together the best two seasons in school history. After setting the school record with a 72.8 mark as a junior, she nearly broke her own record this season with her 73.2 average. Kawil set school records for best 18-hole and 54-hole scores with a seven-under 65 and eight-under 208 at Kentucky’s Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in October. She also finished third in school history with her 75.6 average and her season mark of 74.8 ranked sixth.

Senior Natcha Daengpiem left her mark in Coluccio’s first season as well with a six-under 66 at the MAC Preview that is the second best ever by a Toledo golfer. Daengpiem’s four-under 212 at that event is tied for fifth and her 77.1 career average ranks seventh.

Coluccio guided youthful rosters in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaign that were shortened due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Rockets finished fourth at the 2021 MAC Championships giving them a fourth-place finish or higher in eight of the last 10 conference tournaments.

In 2021-22, Coluccio guided a senior-less squad for a second straight season. The campaign was highlighted by a second-place showing in the Rocket Classic, which the program hosted at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio for the first time since 2016.

Prior to taking the reins of the Rockets, Coluccio spent five years at Illinois. During her five years with the Fighting Illini, Coluccio helped the program register their fifth and sixth NCAA Regional appearances in program history and collect All-Big Ten accolades on eight occasions. During her tenure, the Illini vaulted nearly 100 spots in the Golfstat’s national rankings – No. 122 in 2013 to No. 23 at the conclusion of the 2018 campaign.

In 2017-18, Illinois registered its best regional finish ever, saw four golfers earn All-Big Ten honors and set 13 school records. The Fighting Illini narrowly missed making a trip to the NCAA Championships, finishing one spot away from qualifying with a seventh-place standing at the NCAA Madison Regional. Illinois also tied for second place at the Big Ten Championships, its best showing since 1976, and set a team scoring average for the third year in a row with a mark of 289.6 (over six strokes better than the previous best).

Prior to arriving in Champaign, Coluccio spent three seasons as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at NCAA Division II University of Sioux Falls. Coluccio led the USF men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the 2013 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship, while the women placed fourth. Sophomore Tavia Rutherford became the first Cougar golfer to compete in the NCAA Central Region Tournament since USF reached NCAA Division II status.

In 2011, Coluccio guided her men’s and women’s teams to second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. In the same year, she produced six All-GPAC selections (four men, two women) while her teams set impressive grade-point averages in the classroom (3.2 for the men, 3.5 for the women).

Before becoming head coach at USF, Coluccio served two seasons as a graduate assistant for Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., working with both men’s and women’s teams. The Tigers claimed men and women’s GPAC regular-season championships and advanced to the NAIA championships for the first time ever during her stint.

A native of Springfield, Mo., Coluccio earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Drury (Mo.) University in 2007 and a master’s degree in educational administration and policy from Dakota Wesleyan in 2010.  She was a three-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference golfer for the Panthers, while also collecting 12 top-15 tournament finishes. She has competed in several tournaments throughout her playing career, including the Women’s Western Amateur, Women’s Trans National Amateur, College Players Tour, Futures Tour Qualifying School and LPGA Qualifying School.

Coluccio and her husband Brett have two sons, Braden (9) and Walker (6).
