CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo distance runner
Laura Nicholson was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Nicholson posted top conference times in the 800m and 1500m at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa. last weekend. Nicholson crossed the finish line third with a time of 2:08.00 in the 800m and clocked fourth overall with a time of 4:17.63 in the 1500m.
In addition to being the top times in the MAC in this season, Nicholson's 800m time ranks second and her 1500m time is third in Toledo's outdoor program history. Nationally, Nicholson's 1500m time ranks 50th among NCAA Division I athletes.
This is Nicholson's third MAC Athlete of the Week honor this year and her first in the 2024 outdoor season.
Toledo will split up its team for a pair of upcoming meets this weekend, competing at the Wake Forest Invite on Friday, April 19 and at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Track Classic in Columbus on Friday-Saturday April 19-20.
