Toledo looks to pick up second-straight win

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team closes out a stretch of back-to-back home games on Sunday, Oct. 6 against Central Michigan. Kickoff from Paul Hotmer Field will be at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
Toledo (4-5-2, 1-2-1) is coming off of a week of two positive results, drawing at Eastern Michigan 0-0 before taking a 1-0 home victory against Akron. Goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund made nine saves across the two shutout matches while Kaema Amachree scored the game-winner in the 48th minute against the Zips. The Rockets sit tied for eighth in the MAC standings.
 
The Chippewas (4-4-3, 2-0-2) defeated Northern Illinois 2-0 before drawing against Western Michigan 0-0 at home last week. CMU is tied for second in the league entering play on Sunday.

Stenlund Earns Defensive Player of the Week
  • Agnes Stenlund was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after her pair of shutouts last week.
  • Stenlund recorded her fourth and fifth clean sheets of the year, marking the most in one season for her career.
  • She enters the game at season-best marks in goals-against average (0.91) and save percentage (.811).
  • The Sweden native is tied for third in the MAC in saves per game (3.91) and shutouts (5).
Freshmen Continue to Play Big Roles
  • Through 11 matches, Toledo has seen at least four starts from four different freshmen. Gabrielle Anulare has started all 11 contests, Abigail Marotta has started six times, and Cameron Cole and Morgan Spitler have each started four times.
  • Toledo's rookies have accounted for four of the team's 11 goals this season with two from Anulare and one each from Cole and Spitler.
  • Marotta has played in every minute of conference play for Toledo's defense and has been a part of all five Toledo shutouts.

  • Senior Olivia Dault is 55 minutes away from becoming Toledo's fourth-ever women's soccer student-athlete to record 5,000 minutes.
  • Toledo has allowed three goals or fewer across its first four conference contests for the first time since 2021.
  • The Rockets are 4-2 this season when scoring first, including 3-0 at home.
  • Eight of the Rockets' 11 goals this season have been scored in the second half.
