TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo sports medicine department announced the hiring of two new full-time athletic trainers today, as well as the promotions for four current members of the staff.
Emma Johnson and
Jenna Moreno both joined the sports medicine staff as full-time athletic trainers ahead of the 2024-25 season and are working with the men's & women's cross country and women's swimming & diving programs, respectively. Johnson is a 2022 graduate of Hope College who participated in an immersive internship for the last two years (2022-24) at Northern Michigan University. Moreno is a 2021 graduate of Adrian College and served as an athletic trainer at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. from 2021-24.

Brian Jones said. "Both these ladies are fantastic young healthcare professionals with connections to the Toledo area and have quickly impacted our program in various ways."
In addition to the hirings,Â
Devin Cassity,
Jon Halsey and
Aaron Wass are being promoted to Senior Athletic Trainers. Cassity currently works with the Rockets' baseball and football programs, Halsey provides care for women's basketball, and Wass works directly with football.
"Developing strong teammates is not only a core value of our athletic department, but it also remains atop the list for our sports medicine program as well," Jones said. "Jon, Devin and Aaron have all shown leadership capabilities, and it was important to me to reward their hard work. We feel very lucky to have them all on our team."
Jones also said that
Emily Loew has been promoted to Assistant Director of Sports Medicine, where she will gain more administrative experience. She currently works with women's soccer.
"Emily has spent the last seven years of her career with our program and continues to thrive, both as a clinician and a leader," Jones said. "She has proven she possesses the ability to multitask and willingly has assumed additional administrative responsibilities. This change in her title better encompasses her duties and I am extremely grateful for all her hard work."
