OXFORD, Ohio – Lauren Kilgore and the 200 freestyle relay team led the way for the Toledo women's swimming & diving team in the second day of competition at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships at Miami's Nixon Aquatic Center. Kilgore was part of both of the Rockets' podium finishes, eighth in the 200 IM and sixth in the relay.

The Rockets sit in seventh place with a team score of 97 pts.

Kilgore swam a time of 2:00.91 to qualify for the finals of the 200 IM, nearly matching her PR time of 2:00.36. She was clocked at 2:01.05 to finish eighth overall. Teammate Paula Pavillard-Salvadoe passed her personal-best by three seconds (2:07.96) in the prelims but did not make the finals.

Jovana Duric swam a 4:55.23 to qualify for the finals of the 500 freestyle, and finished 15th overall when she touched the wall at 4:59.91, a season-best time. Nejla Karic and Lindsey Creek did not make the finals of the 500 freestyle, but swam PR times of 5:02.79 and 5:04.48, respectively, in the prelims.

Kennedy Lovell and Janne Slegers were the two Rockets to qualify for the finals of the 50 freestyle. Lovell had a prelim time of 23.27 and Slegers qualified with a touch-time of 23.70. In the finals heat, Lovell finished 12^th wither her fastest time this season at 23.10, and Slegers finished 16^th with a PR time of 23.56.

Eleven additional Rockets swam for a spot in the 50 freestyle finals, nine hitting personal-best times, but missed out as being one of the top-16.

The last event of the evening was the 200 freestyle relay, with Toledo fielding a team made up of Slegers, Lovell, Kilgore, and Lucie Morris. The Rockets finished sixth overall with a time of 1:32.35, which was 0.05 off the school record that was set at last year's MAC Championships.

Competition continues Friday morning with prelims at 10:30 a.m. followed by six events beginning at 6:00 p.m. beginning with the 100 butterfly.
