YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Toledo women's swimming and diving program began the 2025-26 season by picking up a pair of dual wins over Illinois State, 226-142, and Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan, 185-184, at the Eastern Classic in Ypsilanti, Mich.

This marks the first time that Toledo has started a season 2-0 since the 2018-19 season when the Rockets earned wins over Findlay and UIndy. The victory over Eastern Michigan is the first since Nov. 16, 2013 when the Rockets earned a 170-130 decision over the Eagles.

The Rocket tallied 14 podium finishes on the final day of the two-day meet, including six first-place finishes. The 400 free relay team of Rosie Richards, Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes, Kenzie Robinson and Janne Slegers placed first with a time of 3:25.11. The relay squad of Claire Kemmere, Kenzie Myco, Audrey Zimmerman and Tiana Temelkova took fourth overall, but placed ahead of Eastern Michigan with a final mark of 3:31.65 to help secure the win over the Eagles.

Junior Leah Evans won the 100 and 200 backstroke and tallied the seventh-best time in program history in the 200 back with a mark of 2:00.04. Freshman Maggie Spybrooke won her first individual event as a Rocket, recording a final time of 2:04.55 in the 200 butterfly.

The Rockets 200 free relay team of Janne Slegers, Lopes, Robinson and Evans placed first with a time of 1:34.06. The 200 medley relay squad of Evans, Grace Henely, Robinson and Lopes took second with a final mark of 1:43.56.
