TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team fell in their first home dual meet of the season to Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State, 221-78, at the Student Rec Center on Saturday.

The Rockets move to 2-1 (1-1 MAC) on the season. Toledo finished with one individual victory and seven runner-up finishes.

Sophomore Rosie Richards won the 200 freestyle with a final time of 1:53.07. Richards also tallied a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall at 5:07.61. Sophomore Helena Pinta Coehlo Lopes finished second in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:53.80 and placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.76.

Senior Janne Slegers tallied second place finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.91) and 100 freestyle (52.16) and took third in the 200 IM (2:09.26).

In relay events, the 200 medley team of Maggie Spybrook, Richards, Kenzie Robinson and Slegers took second with a time of 1:46.45. The 400 freestyle relay squad, made up of Richards, Audrey Zimmerman, Robinson and Lopes, placed second with a mark of 3:31.58.

"I'm really happy with how well this team raced today. We had a lot of people step up and do what the team needed them to do. Ball State is a very strong team and it was great to see how we stand up to another team in the MAC. We're looking forward to racing Buffalo next weekend."
