TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track when it travels to Rochester, Mich. on Wednesday, Dec. 6 to face Oakland (5-4, 1-1 Horizon). Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. in the OU Credit Union O'rena with streaming on ESPN+.
The Rockets' contest vs. the Golden Grizzles is their second game of the season on an opponent's home floor. UT posted a 78-77 victory at Wright State on Nov. 14 in its first road contest. Toledo (3-4) is looking to rebound from Saturday's 86-77 home defeat to George Mason. The Rockets led 46-45 early in the second half, but the Patriots took a double-digit lead with 10 minutes left that was too much for UT to overcome.
Dante Maddox Jr. paced the Rocket attack with a career-high 25 points. He was joined in double digits by
Ra'Heim Moss (13 pts.) and
Javan Simmons (11 pts.).
Tyler Cochran contributed nine points along with a team-high nine rebounds and three steals. Simmons also blocked a season-high five shots.
Moss leads the Rockets with 16.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Joining him in double-figure scoring are Maddox (15.0) and Simmons (12.3).
Oakland is also coming off a loss after Saturday's 98-77 home setback to Purdue Fort Wayne snapped a four-game winning streak that included a 78-76 victory at Xavier.
Junior Trey Townsend leads the Golden Grizzlies with 15.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg and 3.7 apg. Jack Gohlke and Chris Conway are second and third in team scoring with 12.3 ppg and 11.7 ppg, respectively.
The Rockets registered a 112-90 victory over Oakland in Savage Arena last year. Toledo shot 61.6% from the field in the win, with Maddox scoring 20 points in the contest.Â
