Toledo Hosts Buffalo, Ohio for First Tri-Meet of 2023

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team will host Mid-American Conference opponents Buffalo and Ohio in its first tri-meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Student Recreation Center Pool. The Rockets (3-2, 1-1 MAC) will honor seniors Hannah Beavers, Ashley LeFever, and Caroline Wallenborg before the 5:00 p.m. race time.

Last Time Out
Toledo's divers competed in the UB Diving Invitational last weekend, Jan. 14-15 in Buffalo, NY. Sophomore Kassie Gutierrez led the Rockets on the one-meter board (236.9), while junior Madison Giglio led the way on the three-meter bard (247.95). Both Gutierrez and Giglio finished 11th on their respective boards. Freshmen Annie Bartlett scored two season-best marks in the prelims of each event, and Amanda Dosey made her Rockets debut on the one-meter board. Junior Ryli Harden left the invitational with a PR 249.30 on the three-meter board.

About Buffalo (0-2, 0-1 MAC)
Buffalo's Victoria Franz took first in the one-and-three meter boards and runner-up on the platform at the UB Diving invitational over the weekend. In the pool, The Bulls fell 110-114 to Duquesne on Friday, Jan. 13, picking up victories in the 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke.

About Ohio (4-2, 2-0 MAC)
Ohio's swimmers are coming off a 197-97 win over Marshall last Friday, taking first in 12 events. At the UB Diving Invitational, the Bobcats' divers were led by senior Halli Siwik who finished 12th in the finals of the one-meter board. Sophomore Sophia Cooper led the Bobcats with an 18 place finish in the prelims of the three-meter board but did not advance to the finals. Junior Gabrielle Brust was recently named MAC Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday. Brust helped the Bobcats' "A" 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish, individually won both the 100 and 200 butterfly events, and led the Bobcats' "B" 200 freestyle relay team to a runner-up finish.
