TOLEDO, Ohio – Women's basketball head coach Tricia Cullop announced Tuesday that Long Beach State guard Justina King will transfer to the University of Toledo and join the Rockets' program for the 2022-23 season. King will have one year of eligibility remaining.

"We are thrilled to have Justina King join our Rocket family," Cullop said. "She had a very decorated career at Long Beach State and brings a wealth of experience with her. Not only can she score at all three levels, she can also create for her teammates and is a solid defender. Justina is a strong student and high character person who meshed well with our team on her visit. She will now be just four hours from her home in Toronto, so we look forward to seeing her friends and family in the stands."

A three-time All-Big West Conference selection at Long Beach State, King averaged 11.9 PPG in four seasons with the Beach in 110 career games. She was a first-team all-conference selection in 2020-21 when she led the team in scoring (13.7) and assists (3.7). King has 11 20-point games in her career, including a high of 29 in a game against Montana State as a freshman. A terrific defender as well, King is a two-time Big West All-Defensive Team honoree, earning that distinction in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

King played her high school basketball at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles, averaging 11.1 PPG as a senior and leading her team to a 28-7 overall record and earning second-team all-star records. Prior to beginning her collegiate career, King represented her home country of Canada at the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship. She helped Canada reach the finals, averaging 6.0 PPG and 2.7 APG.
