BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Toledo's bats had no answer for Bowling Green's Payton Gottshall on Friday, as the Rockets fell to their I-75 rivals, 7-1 at Bowling Green.
Gottshall held Toledo scoreless until the seventh inning when the drought was broken by sophomore
Sydney McKeever. The Louisville, Ohio native led off the inning with a walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored on a suicide squeeze by sophomore
Molly Ryan. Toledo put two runners on in the first and third innings but could not get a runner past second base in either inning. Gottshall surrendered just two hits overall in seven innings, striking out 15 Rockets.
Bowling Green scored two runs in the first and third, and three more in the fifth. Freshman
Sophia Knight took the loss for the Rockets.Â
The Rockets (8-18, 1-4 MAC) and the Falcons (15-9, 3-3 MAC) will be back for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The games can be watched locally on BCSN.
