BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo softball team lost a pair of contests to I-75 rival Bowling Green on Saturday at Meserve Field. The Rockets (8-20, 1-6 MAC) were shut out 6-0 in the opening game, and fell by a score of 5-3 in the finale.
Toledo was unable to get anything going at the plate in game one, with senior
Dayna Denner collecting the lone UT hit. Sophomore
Jenna Kroll's sixth-inning walk made her the only other Rocket to reach base in the first contest.Â
In the series finale, Toledo struck first with a three-run top of the third. Freshman
Sidney Griffith led off the inning with a double and later scored on senior
Anna Dixon's hit a sacrifice fly.  Sophomore
Lexi Eckman scored off a BGSU throwing error and Denner's RBI double made it a 3-0 ballgame. Those would be the only runs of the afternoon for the Rockets, however, which allowed Bowling Green to chip away at the deficit until a two-run bottom of the sixth gave the Falcons the lead for good.
Toledo returns home this week to host Miami for a three-game series at Scott Park. The Rockets and RedHawks will open their series with a single game on Tuesday, April 5 and wrap up with a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. All three games will be televised locally on BCSN and streamed live on ESPN+.
