MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Toledo won two of three games on Friday on its second day at The Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Fla. The Rockets opened the day by completing a 9-1 win over Niagara in a game that was suspended on Thursday. UT then rebounded from 8-1 defeat to Purdue by posting a 5-2 victory over Bucknell.
In the first game of the day, Toledo resumed play with a 6-1 lead over Niagara in the top of the second. Senior
Dayna Denner hit an RBI single to get the Rockets' offense going again in the third to extend the lead to 7-1. Sophomore

Kendra VanderLugt's run-scoring single accounted for Toledo's final two runs. Freshman
Sophia Knight struck out a season-high nine batters to pick up the win.
Toledo took the field with Purdue in the second game of the day and trailed 6-0 early. Senior
Aubrey Reed drew a bases-loaded walk with no outs but the Rockets couldn't add any more runs. The Boilermakers added two more in the sixth for the final margin of victory.
Denner got the Rockets going against Bucknell with a solo homer in the first inning, her fifth of the year. The Rockets led 4-0 when after VanderLugt blasted her first home run of the season. The Bison answered in the fourth with two runs, but sophomore
Jenna Kroll's solo blast in the seventh provided the Rockets with some insurance.
Toledo (7-12) will play Holy Cross tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. on its final day of The Spring Games. Streaming is available via

GAME 1 – Toledo 9, Niagara 1
- Toledo scored three runs in both the first and second innings to take a 6-1 lead.
- Dayna Denner's RBI single in the third put the Rockets in front, 7-1.
- Riley Mohr's RBI double and Kendra VanderLugt's RBI single accounted for Toledo's final two runs.
GAME 2 – Purdue 8, Toledo 1
- Purdue plated a run in the first and second innings before a three-run home in the third increased its advantage to 5-0.
- Aubrey Reed drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth for Toledo's lone run of the game.ahead 8-1.
GAME 3 – Toledo 5, Bucknell 2
- Denner hit a leadoff homer in the first to give the Rockets an early lead.
- Denner's two-run double in the third increased Toledo's advantage to 3-0.
- VanderLugt' solo home run in the fourth gave UT a 4-0 cushion.
- Jenna Kroll's homer in the seventh scored the Rockets' final run.
