Toledo to Host Ohio on CBS Sports Network Friday Night

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (9-3, 3-0 MAC) looks to continue its unblemished start to Mid-American Conference play and a season-high six-game winning streak when it hosts Ohio (6-4, 2-2 MAC) on Friday, Jan. 8. The Rockets and Bobcats will tip it off at 6:30 p.m. in Savage Arena with the contest being televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

Toledo is currently tied at the top of the league standings with Bowling Green with a 4-0 mark. The Rockets' 4-0 start to the MAC season is their best since starting 7-0 in the 2006-07 campaign.

Toledo is coming off a thrilling come-from-behind 84-82 victory at Kent State. The Rockets rallied from a nine-point deficit with freshman Ryan Rollins' driving layup with 17.3 seconds left giving UT the win. Seniors Spencer Littleson and Marreon Jackson both hit big shots down the stretch and spearheaded the Rocket attack with 26 and 22 points, respectively.

Jackson leads the Rockets offensively with 16.0 ppg, 4.9 apg, 1.8 spg and a 97.8 FT% (No. 9 nationally). Rollins ranks second in team scoring with 14.3 ppg, while junior Setric Millner Jr. is third with 13.8 ppg and a team-best 7.3 rpg. Littleson is also averaging in double digits with 12.5 ppg and a team-best 47.7 three-point FG%.

Ohio has bounced back from an 0-2 league start with wins at Ball State (78-68) and vs. Northern Illinois (76-73). Junior guard Jason Preston leads the Bobcats with 18.9 ppg and 7.4 apg but has missed the last three games due to injury.

Toledo leads the MAC with 10.4 three-point FGs per game and a 38.0 3PTFG%, while Ohio ranks first with a 48.8 FG%, 17.7 apg and a 1.54 assist/turnover ratio.

Ohio leads 71-61. Toledo has won seven of its last nine games vs. Ohio, including its last four visits to Athens. The Rockets posted an 83-74 road win over the Bobcats in their only meeting last season.

POST TOUCHES
•  Toledo is the only school in the MAC to have four players ranked among the Top 20 scoring leaders. Marreon Jackson is tied for ninth at 16.0 ppg and is followed by Ryan Rollins (14.3/15th), Setric Millner Jr. (13.8/17th) and Spencer Littleson (12.5/T-19th).
•  Littleson leads the Rockets in league scoring with 17.3 ppg followed by Jackson (15.8), Rollins (15.5) and Millner (10.8).
•  Marreon Jackson has scored in double figures in a career-high 33 straight games and ranks 15th on Toledo's all-time scoring list with 1,466 career points. 
•  Spencer Littleson's eight treys at Kent State (Jan. 5) and vs. Oakland (Nov. 26) were one shy of the school record held by Kent Murphree on Nov. 24, 1991. Littleson's eight triples at Kent State tied Nate Navigato (2018) for most three-point field goals ever by a Rocket in a Mid-American Conference game.
•  Setric Millner Jr. has registered two double-doubles this season, tallying 17 points and 15 rebounds at Xavier as well as 17 points and 10 boards vs. Kansas City.
•  Millner scored in double digits in his first nine games and has scored a season-high 17 points on five occasions.
•  Ryan Rollins has scored in double digits in 11 of 12 contests and ranks second on the team with 14.3 ppg and 5.8 rpg and third with 21 three-point field goals.
•  Rollins has two double-doubles with 16 points and 13 rebounds at Marshall as well as 16 points and 11 boards vs. Northern Illinois.
•  JT Shumate tallied a season-high 16 points and nine rebounds at WMU (Jan. 2) in his first start as a Rocket and is averaging 8.4 ppg and 5.4 rpg in 23.8 mpg. Shumate, whose sister Katie is a sophomore guard at Kent State, transferred to Toledo from Division II Walsh University and received immediate eligibility in mid-December.
•  Mattia Acunzo scored a season-high 15 points and tied his season best with six rebounds vs. NIU (Dec. 22). In his last five contests, he is averaging 8.2 ppg and 4.0 rpg with a 68.0 FG% (17-of-25) and a 66.7 three-point FG% (4-of-6).
•  Acunzo leads the Rockets with a 58.7 FG% and is 7-of-12 from three-point range.

SOME TEAM STATISTICAL TIDBITS
•  Toledo is off to a 4-0 start in MAC play for the first time since it posted a 7-0 start in the 2006-07 campaign and finished with a 14-2 ledger to capture the league's regular-season title.
•  The Rockets have won three of their four MAC games by double digits and rank second in the league with a plus-13.3 scoring margin.
•  Toledo's strong start to the season has elevated it to a No. 12 ranking in the CollegeInsider.com's Mid-Major Top 25 poll (Jan. 4). The Rockets are also the MAC's top ranked team in the NET (No. 65) and KenPom (No. 87) rankings.
•  The Rockets are leading the MAC with a 38.0 three-point FG% and 10.4 three-point FGs per game. Toledo has limited its opponents to a 27.9 three-point mark (3rd in MAC) and 6.5 triples per contest.
•  The Rockets nearly tied their school record for three-pointers in a game with 16 triples vs. Oakland, one away from the record vs. Wright State on Dec. 22, 2003.
•  Toledo has registered 65 victories over the last three seasons, posting a 23-11 mark in 2017-18, a 25-8 ledger in 2018-19 and 17-15 last year. The Rockets registered 13-5 league marks in 2017-18 and 2018-19 and its 76 MAC victories over the last seven seasons are second in the league.

TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT TOLEDO VS. OHIO
• Marreon Jackson is averaging 13.8 ppg, 4.5 apg and 3.0 rpg with a 47.2 FG% (17-of-36), 50.0 3PTFG% (11-of-22) and 90.9 FT% (10-of-11) in four career games vs. the Bobcats. Jackson scored 29 points in the Rockets' win at Ohio last year.
• Keshaun Saunders is averaging 10.0 ppg with a 66.7 3PTFG% (2-of-3) in one game vs. Ohio.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Toledo will host Eastern Michigan (2-3, 0-2 MAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 12 before visiting Akron (4-1, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 16. The Eagles will host the Zips on Saturday in their first action since dropping an 87-60 decision at home to Central Michigan on Dec. 29.
