BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's cross country team finished first at the Falcon Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Semra Karaslan paced the Rockets with a time of 21:27.4 to finish in second place. Sophomore Emily Vining was right behind Karaslan in fourth place in a time of 21:53.0. Freshman Amanda Tremains placed 11th at 21:21.2, and junior Maya Hannagan was 13th at 22:23.2. Sophomore Madeline Vining completed the top 25 finishes clocking in at 22:55.2.
"It was a fantastic day to race and to have an opportunity to preview the MAC championship course. We also got to race against most of our main competitors for the upcoming championships and came away with some great information of where we stack up. Both men's and women's teams are young so it's very exciting. All in all a very solid day and I think our best race is still out there", stated Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough.
The Rocket women topped the eight-team field with 54 points. Miami was second with 63 points, while Bowling Green placed third with 84 points.
The Rockets will next compete at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 p.m.
