TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's cross country team is looking to make history at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, N.Y. The Rockets are looking to earn their fifth consecutive conference championship in the 6K race, whcih set to begin at 12:00 noon.
Toledo has won four-straight MAC titles for the first time in program history and have 10 total conference crowns. With a first-place finish, the Rockets would earn their 11th MAC championship which would be the most in conference history. Toledo is currently tied with Ohio with 10 MAC titles each.
Heading into the race, the Rockets are ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), just one spot below MAC opponent Ohio.
The Rockets return four runners from their 2024 championship lineup, including Second Team All-MAC honorees
Melody Jebiwot and
Lianna Surtz in addition to
Karina James and
Alex Bauer.
James and Jebiwot have led the team throughout the 2025 season, both earning MAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. The women's squad earned a top-ten finish at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational, finishing ahead of then-No. 7 Providence and No. 21 Wisconsin as well as Cal Poly, Indiana and Loyola Chicago. The Rockets had a strong showing at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational, placing ahead of Louisville, Syracuse, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana and then-No. 28 Providence.
