TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo sophomore
Melody Jebiwot was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Jebiwot led the Toledo women's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the highly competitive Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational race on Friday, Oct. 3 in Chicago, Ill. The Eldoret, Kenya native placed 18th overall, recording a career-best 6k time of 20:10.9.
The Rockets placed ahead of No. 7 Providence and No. 21 Wisconsin as well as Cal Poly, Indiana and Loyola Chicago.
The Rockets return to action on Friday, Oct. 17 when the squad splits between the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. and the Princeton Fall Classic in Princeton, N.J.
