Senior Petronela Simiuc and six Rockets travel to Boston as the track squad will split up between the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass. and SPIRE Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio, this weekend.

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's track and field team is set to split up for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University, and the SPIRE Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio. Both meets run Jan. 24-25. Seven Rockets are slated to compete in Boston on Friday, in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meter events. The remainder of the squad will compete on Saturday at the SPIRE Midwest Open.

Last Time Out
The Rockets fell to Bowling Green, 79-57, at the BGSU Dual Meet on Friday. Janell Rowe and Petronela Simiuc posted first-place finishes in the triple jump (5.46m) and 3,000 meters (9:59.37), respectively. Junior Meltem Yasar clinched first in the 800 meters (2:17.89, PR) and mile (4:56.41). Toledo tallied 20 personal-bests.

Last Time at the SPIRE Midwest Open
The Rockets most recently competed at the SPIRE Midwest Open on Jan. 27, 2018. In the mile, Janelle Noe clinched first (4:42.80) with Athena Welsh taking second (4:43.15) and Simiuc taking fifth (4:47.27). Rowe posted a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.67m.

Last Time at the John Thomas Terrier Classic
The Rockets last competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 28, 2006 where April Williams set the Toledo indoor triple jump record and qualified with a leap of 12.75m.
