TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo baseball team resumes Mid-American Conference play on Friday for the beginning of the a three-game road series at Ball State. Friday's game time will be at 3:00 p.m. with the following contests starting at 1:00 p.m. in Muncie, Ind.

The Rockets (14-30, 7-8 MAC) currently hold the sixth spot in the MAC, a game and a half behind fifth-place Ball State. Toledo was swept by Kent State in its last conference series and has lost seven in a row overall. Last weekend, the Rockets nearly knocked off the No. 2 team in the country in Louisville, but were defeated 5-4. Louisville completed the weekend with double digit runs in the final two games.

Toledo has experienced a power surge this season and are tied with Miami with a league-leading 31 home runs. Juniors Dalton Bollinger and AJ Montoya top the squad with six apiece, while classmate Matt Hansen has five. Another Junior, Brad Boss, and sophomore Ross Adolph have recorded four round trippers each. Bollinger and Adolph both blasted an HR on Friday against Louisville.

The Rockets pitching staff is led by senior Steven Calhoun and fifth-year senior Ross Achter. Calhoun and Achter both have three wins on the campaign in 11 starts. Senior Josh Cales and sophomore Luke Schaefer have been reliable out of the bullpen with 2.25 and 3.14 ERAs, respectively.

Ball State (22-22, 9-9 MAC) was swept in its first two conference series at the hands of Kent State and Ohio. The Cardinals responded with sweeps of Western Michigan and Bowling Green. BSU went a game about .500 with two wins over Buffalo but came back to even with two losses to Northern Illinois.

BSU, who leads the MAC in conference batting average at .310, is led by Sean Kennedy, Caleb Stayton and Matt Eppers who each hit at or above .333 on the season.

The Rockets won two of three games in this series in 2015 and 2016, but Ball State leads the all-time series, 68-58.

Toledo hosts a pair of midweek, non-conference games against Youngstown State and Dayton on Tuesday and Wednesday before welcoming Central Michigan to the Glass City for the final home weekend of 2017.
