Box Score PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Toledo battled back to tie the game with in the seventh inning but was defeated, 6-5, by Boston College in the Snowbird Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rockets (1-11) were led by juniors Matt Hansen and AJ Montoya who both collected three hits on the day. Sophomore Riley Campbell went 1-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs in the loss.

UT wasted no time taking the lead in the top of the first inning as Hansen led off the game with a first-pitch double to left center. Junior Dalton Bollinger doubled to score Hansen and scored on a double by Montoya.

Boston College (5-6) responded with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the frame. Back-to-back singles and an RBI groundout plated the first run and an third single of the inning brought in the second.

The Eagles took the outright lead in the second on an unearned run and added to its lead with a run in the fifth to make the count 4-2.

Trailing by two runs, the Rockets went to work in the seventh to knot the game at 4-4. Junior Brad Boss walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a ground out. Hansen singled through the left side to score Boss. He stole second during the next at-bat and went to third on a throwing error. Campbell flied out to center field which scored Hansen for an RBI sacrifice fly.

Again, Boston College was there to respond, scoring a pair of runs in the eighth to tie the game, 6-6.

Toledo put its lead off runner aboard in the ninth as freshman Antonio Bennett walked. Hansen doubled down the left field line, but Bennett was thrown out at the plate for the first out of the inning. Hansen scored on an RBI single by Campbell but it was not enough as the Rockets fell 6-5.

Freshman reliever Joey Prechtel is charged with the loss, while BC's Donovan Casey is credited with the win.

Toledo finishes its Snowbird Classic visit with a 10:30 a.m. contest with Northeastern on Wednesday, March 8
