Toledo and EMU to Tangle for First Time This Season on Tuesday Night

 QUICK HITTERS
• Toledo (11-12, 4-6 MAC) looks to bounce back from three straight down-to-the wire setbacks when it hosts Eastern Michigan (13-10, 5-5 MAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Tuesday's contest will be the first of two meetings between the two MAC West Division foes. Tip-off time in Savage Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. with the game being televised on BCSN and Spectrum Sports as well as streamed on ESPN3.
• The Rockets suffered a heartbreaking 104-100 (2OT) setback at Bowling Green on Saturday during which it led by seven in the first overtime and five in the second extra session. UT, which set a school record on Saturday with its sixth overtime contest of the season, was edged by NIU (74-72) and Ball State (81-80) in its previous two losses.
• Senior forward Steve Taylor, Jr. led the Rockets with 25 points and 13 rebounds against BGSU with senior guard Jonathan Williams (24 pts.) and sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford (21 pts.) also topping the 20-point plateau
• Williams ranks second in the MAC with a team-high 20.6 ppg and is third in league play with a 21.7 scoring mark.
• Taylor ranks second on the team in scoring with 16.0 ppg to go along with a MAC-best 12.5 rpg and a team-high 3.8 apg. He ranks third nationally in rebounding (through Feb. 4) and leads the country with 10.0 defensive rpg (just ahead of Purdue's Caleb Swanigan's total of 9.9). In addition, Taylor's 17 double-doubles are tied for second in the nation.
• Sanford is also a double-digit scorer for the Rockets with 14.3 ppg and is playing a team-high 35.5 mpg. He is tied for second on the team in league scoring with 16.0 ppg.
• As a team, Toledo ranks second in the MAC with 81.8 ppg and is first with a 48.3 FG%. UT leads the MAC in league play with a 49.1 FG% and 16.9 apg.
• The Rockets have set a school record (breaking the more of five in the 1971-72 campaign) with a nation-high six overtime games this season. UT has a 2-4 win-loss mark in OT contests with wins over Youngstown St. (Nov. 15) and Evansville (Nov. 25) and losses against Middle Tennessee (Nov. 26), Green Bay (Dec. 3), Marshall (Dec. 10) and Bowling Green (Feb. 4)
• Toledo's six OT games are tied for first nationally with Indiana State.
• Eastern Michigan has dropped its last two decisions — a 70-64 home setback to Kent State and an 81-69 road loss to Northern Illinois. The Eagles lead the MAC with a plus-4.6 turnover margin and 17.7 turnovers forced per game
• Senior guard Willie Mangum IV tops EMU with 15.8 ppg with sophomore center James Thompson IV averaging 14.5 ppg and ranking third in the MAC with 10.8 rpg.
 
POST-GAME NOTES FROM UT'S 104-100 (2OT) LOSS TO BOWLING GREEN
• UT now leads its all-time series against Bowling Green by an 89-80 margin after its six-game winning streak against the Falcons was snapped.
• Toledo played its sixth overtime game which was one more than the previous record of five in the 1971-72 campaign.
• UT has a 7-7 win-loss mark in overtime games against Bowling Green.
• Toledo is now 30-53 in road games against the Falcons.
• The Rockets are now 7-5 when leading at halftime and 9-3 when leading with five minutes remaining.
• UT's record fell to 9-5 when shooting 45 percent or better from the field and 5-10 when its opponent shoots better than 45 percent.
• Toledo's 14 three-point field goals are its second most in a MAC game in school history and its most since hitting a school-record 17 treys vs. Wright State on Dec. 22, 2003.
• UT is now 7-4 when scoring 80 or more points and 1-8 when allowing 80 or more points.
• Senior Jonathan Williams tied his season high with two steals and registered his 14th 20-point outing of season and 27th of his career. Williams moved into eighth place on UT's all-time scoring list with 1,582 points and needs eight more to move ahead of Rian Pearson (2011-14/1,589 pts.)
• Senior Steve Taylor Jr.'s 25 points matched his most in a conference contest and gave him seven 20-point outings this season. He also tied a career high with 10 field goals made.
• Sophomore Jaelan Sanford registered his fifth 20-point outing of the season. He tied his career high with nine field goals and established a new career best with 15 shot attempts.
• Senior Jordan Lauf's 50 minutes played rank as the third-most in school history.
