TONTO VERDE, AZ - Toledo took a break from the normal collegiate golf format on Tuesday afternoon and posted a 3-2 match-play win over Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan.
We played great and we're excited to come away with the win," Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "Western Michigan is ranked 58th nationally and is one of the top teams in our conference. It was fun to compete with them in the match-play format."
Senior Erica Rivard and junior Piyathida Chaiyapan posted wins for the Rockets, while seniors Emily Hardcastle and Michelle Hui halved their matches. Rivard earned her victory by winning the final two holes, while Chaiyapan sunk an 18-footer to capture her match on the final hole. Hardcastle also produced a dramatic moment by winning her final two holes to even her match.
