OXFORD, OH - Toledo's rally from a 2-0 deficit came up short on Saturday evening in a 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 25-16) setback at Miami in Millett Hall. With the victory, the RedHawks improved to 8-15 overall and 3-7 in the Mid-American Conference and the Rockets fell to 8-13 overall and 3-7 in the MAC.
Freshman OH Lauren Rafdal led UT offensively for a second-straight night with 13 kills, while sophomore MB Bailey Blank and junior RSH Cassie Kleepspies each reached double-digits with 12 and 11 terminations, respectively. Blank was the Rockets' most effective attacker with a .458 hitting mark.
Junior libero Amber DeWeerdt led a strong defensive effort with 22 digs with senior Katie Westerfeld (18), junior S Kassie Kadera (17) and Rafdal (season-high 15) tallying double digits. Freshman MB Becca Reidy led UT at the net with five blocks
Colleen Loftus paced the home team with a career-high 18 kills.
Toledo returns to action next weekend with a pair of home matches against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30.
