Rockets Shot Down at Miami, 3-0

OXFORD, OH ? Toledo couldn't get untracked offensively against MAC East Division leader Miami on Friday evening in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-11) setback to the RedHawks. The Rockets were limited to a .032 team attack percentage, while the hosts were clicking on their side of the net posting a .361 mark.

The defeat drops UT to 10-12 overall and 2-7 in the conference, while Miami's record improve to 14-7 and 8-1 in the league.

Junior OH Stephanie Kersting led Toledo offensively with five kills with senior RSH Shannon Strachan and freshman OH Amber DeWeerdt tallying four kills apiece. Senior libero Lori Ruth notched a team-high six digs, while freshman S Kassie Kadera collected a team-high three blocks.

Megan Griffin and Emily Schroeder paced the RedHawks with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Michele Metzler (.667), Schroeder (.625) and Griffin each garnered attack percentages of .500 or better.

The RedHawks started quickly in the first set by opening up a 12-5 lead. UT cut into the lead with a 5-1 spurt to reduce its deficit to 13-10. Miami then went on a 7-2 run for a 20-12 advantage to take control of the set.

Miami dominated the second set, posting a match-high .433 ATK%. The Rockets stayed within striking distance in the first half of the set with a 12-9 deficit. MU scored six straight points to take 22-11 lead and secure the win.

The third set was also back and forth early on, with Miami eventually opening up a 10-7 lead. The RedHawks then scored four straight points on three Toledo attack errors and a service aces to open things up.

Toledo returns to action on Saturday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. matinee vs. arch-rival Bowling Green (17-7, 6-3 MAC) at Anderson Arena. The Falcons posted a 3-2 (16-25, 25-20, 25-14, 20-25, 17-15) home win this evening over Ball State.
