Rockets Cruise Past Bulls To Stay Perfect In MAC Play

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Senior guard Justin Ingram and senior forward Florentino Valencia scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, to lead Toledo to a 78-62 win over Buffalo Wednesday night.

Toledo (10-8, 6-0 Mid-American Conference) has won 13 consecutive MAC regular-season games. The Rockets' 6-0 record in conference play is the second-best start in school history.

Buffalo (9-10, 1-5) opened the game with a 12-4 run fueled by Andy Robinson's eight points.

Toledo responded with a 13-2 run to take a 20-18 lead on junior guard Kashif Payne's layup.

Ingram sank a shot at the buzzer to give Toledo a 29-27 halftime lead. Senior forward Keonta Howell added 15 points and Payne contributed 14 points and five assists for the Rockets.

Robinson led Buffalo with 15 points. Yassin Idbihi added 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Max Boudreau had 11 points.

Holding a 49-47 lead, Toledo used a 15-3 run to take a 64-50 lead with about five minutes to play. Valencia scored 10 of his points during that run.

Buffalo committed 32 turnovers, but managed to outrebound Toledo 40-18.

Toledo returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when it hosts Miami (8-10, 4-2) in the second game of a doubleheader. Tip-off will be at approximately 7:00 p.m. following the Rocket women's contest vs. Kent State.
