TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Sophomore guard Tyrone Kent scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed a career-best eight rebounds to lead Toledo to a 73-63 win over Detroit Tuesday night.
Senior guard Justin Ingram added 16 points for the Rockets (4-5) and senior forwards Florentino Valencia and Keonta Howell scored 11 points apiece.
Ryvon Covile led the Titans (2-8) with 21 points and seven rebounds. Brandon Cotton scored 14 and Jon Goode came off the bench to add 10 points.
Detroit led by five points with 5:35 left in the first half but Toledo pulled ahead to 37-31 by halftime and never fell behind in the second period, leading by as much as 16 points.
The Titans hit 22 of 27 free throws, compared with Detroit's 10 of 22. Toledo outshot Detroit 51 percent to 44 percent and outrebounded the Titans 37-26.
The Rockets return to action on Friday, Dec. 22 with a matchup vs. Drake (7-2) in El Paso, TX in the first round of the State Farm Sun Bowl Tournament.
