No. 5 seed Toledo (18-12) lost twice to No. 4 seed WMU (18-9) during the regular season, including a 3-0 loss at home, but was in control the whole way in the third meeting. It was just the seventh Rocket win over WMU in 40 matches between the two schools, the victory gave UT its second-most victories (18) in school history.

"I'm very happy to get this win," said Toledo head coach Kent Miller. "We struggled against them during the year but we came in and played hard tonight. We thought if we played the way we were capable of we could give them trouble."
