Toledo (16-12, 9-7 MAC) closed out its 2005 regular-season campaign with a 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-16) setback at MAC West Division champion Eastern Michigan (21-6, 14-2 MAC). Even with the setback, the Rockets are guaranteed the No. 5 seed in the MAC Tournament and will host No. 12 seed Central Michigan at Savage Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Sophomore right-side hitter Sarah Kreher led Toledo's offense with nine kills and a .300 ATK% as all 16 Rockets saw action in the match. Freshman Sarah Sheers collected 33 assists along with six kills and a .455 ATK%. Junior Lora Sarich led Toledo's defense with 13 digs.
Eastern Michigan was led by Melissa Bartlett's 12 kills with Lindsay Piccolini notching 11 kills and a .529 ATK%.
The Rockets fell behind by an 8-3 margin early in Game 1 but rallied to within 8-7 but the Eagles scored four straight points for a 12-7 advantage. The closest UT came the rest of the way was three points. Senior Kelsey Culver led the Rockets in the game with four kills.
Toledo started out Game 2 strong by taking a 9-4 lead but EMU cut into it and eventually led 22-20. The Eagles then outscored the Rockets 8-3 the rest of the way for the victory. Five Rockets tallied three kills in the game to lead UT.
Toledo never held the lead in Game 3 and was led by junior Kate Bean and Kreher with three kills apiece.
