Toledo (13-8, 3-6 MAC) suffered a 3-1 (30-20, 30-27, 29-31, 30-28) setback tonight at Eastern Michigan (14-8, 9-2).
Junior MB Kelsey Culver paced the Rockets' attack with 20 kills and a .390 attack percentage. It was the second straight match Culver registered a career-high kill total.
"I thought we responded well after a slow start and played three very tight games," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "Kelsey Culver came up big for us for a second straight match for us and Sarah Kreher also played well coming off the bench in a blocking and attacking role."
Sophomore OH Kate Bean notched 16 kills and senior OH Rachel Mohler added 15 kills. Junior libero Lora Sarich led the Rockets defensively with a match-high 23 digs with Culver leading the way in the blocking department with five.
UT let a great chance to win the second game as the Eagles rallied from a 24-19 deficit to capture the contest. The Rockets rebounded though to win the third game with Culver notching the final two points on a kill and a service ace.
Toledo nearly rallied from a 24-18 deficit to win the fourth game. The Rockets scored six straight points to tie the game at 24-24 but could never gain the lead.
Toledo will travel to Mt. Pleasant, MI on Saturday, Oct. 23 to battle Central Michigan.
