TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Darryl Peterson, Andy Hipsher and John Hollingsworth
each scored 15 points to lead Akron over Toledo 78-67 Wednesday night.
Toledo trailed for most of the first half, but went on a 13-2 run to pull
within 54-53 on Nick Moore's three-pointer with 11:16 left in the game.
Akron (10-9, 5-5 Mid-American Conference) responded with an 8-2 run led by a
three-pointer from Peterson.
Toledo (9-10, 3-6) got to within two points twice with under six minutes
left, but the Zips held the lead.
Hipsher had eight rebounds and six assists. His three-pointer with 3:24 left
ended Toledo's last run.
Moore finished with 15 points and Keith Triplett had 14 to lead the Rockets,
who were just 5-for-21 from 3-point range and attempted only eight free throws.
Nick Meyers and Derrick Tarver each scored 12 points for the Zips.
The Rockets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Eastern Michigan (9-9, 3-6 MAC).
