BUFFALO, NY (AP) - Junior guard Keith Triplett scored 28 points to lead Toledo over
Buffalo 66-59 Tuesday night, snapping the Rockets' three-game losing streak.
With Toledo (11-14, 5-10 Mid-American Conference) trailing 57-54 with 5:47
left to play, Triplett scored seven points during a decisive 9-0 run. His
three-pointer with 54.1 seconds remaining pushed the Rockets to a six-point lead,
63-57.
Buffalo (4-20, 1-14 MAC) did not hit a field goal for the game's final 5:47,
going 0-for-9.
Trailing 52-46 with 9:19 left in the second half, the Bulls went on an 11-2
run to earn their final lead at 57-54. Jason Bird, Roderick Middleton, and
Daniel Gilbert hit three-pointers during the run.
Senior guard Nick Moore had 14 points for Toledo, and senior forward Milo Kirsh added 10 points. Triplett was 4-of-5 from three-point range and 10-of-13 from the free throw line.
Middleton led Buffalo with 17 points on 7-17 shooting. B.J. Walker had eight
points for the Bulls, who dropped their fourth game in a row.
The Rockets won on the road in the MAC for the first time this season.
Toledo will return to action when it hits the road again to battle Northern Illinois (14-11, 10-5 MAC) on Saturday, March 1 in DeKalb. The contest will tip off at 4:05 p.m. EST and will be televised live by FoxSports Ohio and FoxSports Detroit.
