Durham, NC - For the second time in three years, Toledo's men's golf team came agonizingly close to advancing to the final two rounds of the NCAA Championship, only to come up a bit short. The Rockets fell to 18th place at the end of the second round at Duke University Golf Course in Durham, NC yesterday, which knocked them out of this year's tourney.

The top 15 teams advance to the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday. Toledo, which had a score of 592 (+16) for two rounds, missed the cut by two strokes. Toledo's only other trip to the NCAA's ended when Coach John Jasinksi's team finished 16th after the first two days in 1999.

Arizona continues to lead the field, coming in at 569 (-7), followed by Florida at 574 (-2).

Toledo was tied for third at the end of Wednesday's first round, but shot a 12-over par 300 on Thursday to fall out of contention. The Rockets were led by freshman Brad Heaven, who shot even par (72), matching his score from Wednesday. Fellow freshman Sean McTernan shot a 73 on Thursday to go with his 71 from Wednesday. Both Heaven and McTernan, who are tied for 25th place, will continue in the tournament as individuals.
