TOLEDO, OH - Toledo's second-half rally fell short this afternoon in its 68-54 loss to Kent State (15-6, 8-2 MAC) at Savage Hall.

The Rockets (13-8, 5-5 MAC) trailed by a 32-17 margin at halftime, but climbed to within four, 39-35, with 13:32 remaining. But that was as close as UT would get as the Golden Flashes pulled away at the end thanks to their backcourt tandem of senior Andrew Mitchell (24 pts.) and junior Trevor Huffman (16 pts.).

The Rockets were led by senior forward Greg Stempin who scored a game-high 26 points, one shy of his career high. Stempin also grabbed 11 boards to share team honors with senior forward Robierre Cullars.

Toledo led early in the game and trailed just 22-17 with 3:06 remaining in the first half. Kent State then went on a 10-0 run in the final three minutes culminated by a three-pointer from Mitchell.

KSU led by as many as 17 points in the second half before Stempin cut the lead to 48-43 on a dunk with 9:22 left. The Golden Flashes scored 12 of the next 14 points to pull away.

Mitchell's 24 points included 8-of-8 free throws. Huffman had 16 points on 3-of-3 shooting on 3-pointers.

Senior Craig Rodgers was the only other Rocket to reach double figures in scoring with 12 points.

The Rockets will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Akron. Tipoff time is 7:30 p.m.
