Women's Soccer: Rockets Drop 5-2 Decision to Chippewas

TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo women's soccer team lost its third-consecutive contest, dropping a 5-2 decision to Central Michigan on Sunday afternoon at The Soccer Field Inside Bennett Track. With the loss the Rockets drop to 2-6-0 overall (1-3-0 MAC), while the Chippewas improve to 3-7-0 overall (1-2-0 MAC) to pick up its first conference win.

CMU scored three unanswered goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead. Jamie Tekott opened the scoring at 21:38, while Allison Campbell added a goal at 34:42, and Erin McMaster scored at 36:36.

Toledo scored first in the second half on a goal by sophomore Corrie Hasenjager at 49:41 to make it 3-1, but the Chippewas responded minutes later when Laura Fedrigo scored at 53:52 to increase the Chippewa lead to 4-1. The goal by Hasenjager was her fifth in the last four games and she now leads the Rockets with 14 points (seven goals) on the season.

Freshman Anna Rask scored at 57:18 for the Rockets off an assist from her twin sister Sofia to close the gap to 4-2 but the Chippewas again answered with a score when Sabrina Borgquist drove one home at 71:29 to round out the scoring.

Toledo goalie Elise Donovan made seven saves and allowed five goals, while CMU goalie Beth Quiney made six saves and allowed two goals in the winning effort.

The Rockets next play at Western Michigan on Sept. 29 at 4:00 p.m. and host Northern Illinois on Oct. 1 at 1:00 p.m.
